Each Monday morning, we at PLR spend some time sipping on coffee, catching up and chatting about the weekend. This past Monday, the conversation somehow turned to the latest movie each of us had seen… and that got us to thinking.
Everyone has seen monster movies. You know, the ones where radioactive slime gets into the water and a giant lizard-like creature starts attacking the city. Or maybe, humans send a probe into space and it catches the eyes of a not-so-friendly race of aliens. Either way, the rest of the movie is the same. The monster/alien starts attacking and the main characters face undo harm and challenges before they, eventually, escape and survive.
What these movies don’t show you is the financial difficulty that the main characters probably face after the film ends. Lucky for you and thanks to “the Mondays”, procrastination, and a fair amount of laughter and sarcasm, PLR has some advice for making sure you’re covered in the case of monster or extraterrestrial attacks.
Tip 1: Get Homeowners/Renters Insurance
In these movies, the first things to go are the main characters’ dwellings, usually after the monster climbs the tallest building around (Watterson Tower?). If you have a house in the Bloomington-Normal area, get a homeowner’s insurance quote from PLR. If you’re renting an apartment, make sure all of your stuff is safe by getting a renters insurance quote.
Tip 2: You Absolutely Need Auto Insurance
Just when you think that the main characters are out of harm’s way (and you can’t believe you paid money to watch this), their car either breaks down or is broken down by the monster/aliens chasing them. Generally, all main characters will escape, but their car isn’t as lucky, and they have to travel on-foot for the rest of the movie. If they had had their car insured by getting a free quote from PLR, they could have that car replaced in no time at all!
Tip 3: Long Term Care Insurance Is Your Friend
Picture this: the film is over. The monsters have been defeated, the main characters have been reunited with one another (separation always happens in these movies), and everyone lives happily ever after. Except that all of these characters just survived a GLOBAL attack and have the injuries to show for it! After the hospital visit, the characters would still probably have to spend months in some kind of rehabilitation center to help them with their day-to-day living. If you need to spend some time recovering in long term care (somewhere like Bloomington-Normal’s Happy Meadows Rehabilitation Center) after the attack, make sure that you have some insurance to cover it.
