Late last year, PLR posted this piece to our blog, which described the damage done by Hurricane Florence and stressed the importance of Homeowners Flood Insurance.

While that was only a short time ago, we’d like to, once again, stress the importance of Homeowners Flood Insurance for people living in the Midwest.

According to this article by The New York Times, the recent flooding, which happened less than two weeks ago, has resulted in evacuations and property damage throughout the Midwest, with heavy concentrations in Nebraska and Iowa. At least two people have died as a result.

Flooding Incidents in Bloomington-Normal

As previously reported, Bloomington-Normal, while not notorious for flooding, does experience excess water from time to time. In 2017, a number of people were trapped in flooded areas and had to be rescued by city workers. Basement flooding, which can cause a significant amount of damage to a house, is also relatively common in the area.
